Established in 2005, University of Sanya(USY) is located in Sanya, Hainan province. It was a university jointly constructed by Hainan Provincial Government and Sanya Municipal Government and funded by Geely Holding Group, one of the world’s top 500 enterprises. It is also the fastest growing and most competitive comprehensive private university in China.  

In 2012, USY was successfully transformed into a general undergraduate college.

In 2015, it has passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching of the Ministry of Education.

In the same year, it became the sole university in Hainan Province which was rated by the Ministry of Education as one of the top 50 colleges in the nationwide employment work.

In 2016, the Hainan Provincial Government and the Sanya Municipal Government signed a contract to jointly build the University of Sanya and make concerted efforts to establish Sanya University.

In 2017, it was nominated by the Ministry of Education as one of the top 50 universities in the work of National Innovation and Entrepreneurship, becoming one of the few domestic “Double 50” universities in Hainan.

According to the Chinese Alumni Association, University of Sanya ranked the second place among comprehensive private universities in China and gained the reputation of the China’s six-star top-notch private universities.

USY covers an area of 3,000 acres, with a total building area of nearly 500,000 square meters and a total investment of 3 billion yuan. And the number of students is about 20,000.

There are altogether 18 teaching faculties and 74 majors (including major directions), covering 9 different discipline categories such as economics, management, law, literature, art, pedagogy, science, engineering, agriculture.

During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" (the abbreviation for the thirteenth five-year plan for China’s national economy and social development) period, University of Sanya will proactively connect with the twelve industries that Hainan Province is focusing on. Based on the  "One Belt, One Road" city platform, USY will strive for sustainable and coordinated development in a more open manner and with clearer goals. What’s more, it will continue to respond to China’s Reform and Opening up strategy, and seek for more in-depth overseas cooperation and more enterprising overseas expansion capabilities, with an attempt to achieve outstanding development and become an outstanding representative of China's modern private university. 

三亚学院始建于2005年，位于海南省三亚市，由世界500强企业吉利集团出资建设，是海南省政府和三亚市政府“省市共建”高校，也是中国成长最快、最具竞争力的综合类民办大学。2012年，学校成功转设为普通本科高校。2015年一次性通过教育部本科教学工作合格评估。同年，成为海南省唯一高校被教育部评为全国高校就业工作50强。2016年，海南省政府和三亚市政府签约共建三亚学院，全力筹建三亚大学。2017年，被教育部评为全国创新创业工作50强，成为国内为数不多、海南唯一的“双50强”高校单位。中国校友会发布中国综合类民办大学排行榜第二位、六星级中国顶尖民办大学,学校校园占地面积3000亩，建筑总面积近50万平方米，总投资30亿元。在校生规模约20，000人。下设18个教学学院，开设74个专业（含方向），涵盖经济学、管理学、法学、文学、艺术学、教育学、理学、工学、农学等9个学科门类。  “十三五”时期，三亚学院将主动对接海南省重点发展的十二个产业，立足“一带一路”支点城市平台，以更加开放的姿态，更加明晰的目标，谋求事业可持续、协调发展。积极呼应中国国家“走出去”战略，谋划更深层次的海外合作和更进取的海外拓展力，实现卓越发展，成为中国现代民办大学的优秀代表。
