Founded in 1957, Spice and Beverage Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural

Sciences, is affiliated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, covers an area of 47 hectares, with more than 500 employees. It is a comprehensive research institute, mainly engaged in the research and utilization of black pepper, coffee, vanilla, cacao, anise, cinnamon and other tropical spice and beverage crops. 

中国热带农业科学院香料饮料研究所创建于1957年，隶属于农业部中国热带农业科学院，占地面积近千亩，是我国唯一从事热带香辛饮料作物应用基础研究、应用研究和重大关键技术研究的公益性农业科研机构。主要承担热带香辛饮料特色作物(植物)应用基础研究、应用研究和重大关键技术研究；热带香辛饮料作物、功能型热带植物、典型热带水果等名优、特、新、稀作物(植物)种质资源收集保存与创新利用；科技成果转化和技术集成、示范与推广；热带香辛饮料等特色作物重要病、虫、草、鼠害预防与控制研究；热带农业循环经济研究、观光农业开发与科普教育等职责。现有职工500余人。
